<p>Provided is a method whereby spaces are created in a fastener chain wherein a covering band makes contact with the front and rear faces of leg parts of fastener elements. Coupling part side edges (5c) of a covering band (5) of a fastener chain (1) are displaced in an upright state and separated from the front and rear faces of leg parts (4b) of fastener elements (4), and grippers (40) hold the leg parts (4b) of the fastener elements (4) in said state. In this state, engagement head parts (4a) of the fastener elements (4) are cut with a die (20) and a punch (30), and the grippers (40) are moved in directions away from the fastener elements (4). Thereby, the remaining portions of the fastener elements (4-1) gripped by the grippers (40) are pulled out from the fastener chain (1), and a space (7) is created in the fastener chain (1).</p> |
