The present invention is directed to a method for providing user profile information to a user equipment device of a media network based on a type of the user equipment device. The method comprises storing user profile information on a server, the stored user profile information including user personalization data associated with a plurality of types of user equipment devices, each type being associated with a plurality of user equipment devices; determining the type of a first user equipment device from among a plurality of types of user equipment devices; identifying the user personalization data associated with the type of the first user equipment device; and transmitting to the first user equipment device the identified user personalization data.
