Machine for extracting a metal cord (32) from a side wall (2a) of a tyre (2), which machine comprises: a hook (6) for extracting said cord from the side wall (2a) of the tyre; means (7) of handling said hook, which are configured to allow the hook to be manipulated with respect to the stand in a direction (D1) of extraction between a position (P1) of engagement with said tyre at the loading zone (30) and a position of disengagement from said tyre, and of extraction of said cord; a mobile element able to move relative to the stand (3) in order to detach the cord from the hook (6) when the hook is in said disengagement position (P2); and means of handling the mobile element.
