<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image with extended contrast by enlarging distribution of a brightness level of a subject on an entire screen. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging device comprises: a filter 307 separating picked-up image signals into a DC component and an AC component; a histogram detector 203 for measuring frequency distribution of brightness of the picked-up image signals; a contrast control circuit 204 for generating a control parameter controlling a range and a degree for correcting a contrast of the image signals according to the frequency distribution acquired by the histogram detector; and a contrast extension circuit 202 for determining input/output characteristics to the separated DC component and AC component according to the control parameter, and extending and correcting the contrast to the DC component and the AC component according to the determined input/output characteristics. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
