The present invention is to provide an electrode active material and a method for producing the same capable of preventing production of foreign substance, poor coating and deterioration of electrode active material upon covering the surface of the electrode active material with ion conductive oxide, decreasing battery resistance and having higher output of battery. Disclosed is a method for producing an electrode active material, the surface of which is covered with ion conductive oxide, comprising the steps of: preparing an alkoxide solution by mixing at least alkoxide compound and liquid water; and applying and drying the alkoxide solution on a surface of an electrode active material under dry atmosphere, and an electrode active material, the surface of which is covered with ion conductive oxide, wherein an area on the surface of the electrode active material occupied by a substance other than the ion conductive oxide is 21% or less. |
