PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording head capable of propagating a light flux to the vicinity of a main pole without deteriorating light propagation efficiency, efficiently generating near-field light, and improving design freedom of a light propagation element for propagating the light flux.SOLUTION: The recording head 2 includes: a slider 60; a light propagation element 40 having a propagation unit 50 that propagates a light flux L while condensing the light flux toward a disk surface; a recording element 41 having a main pole 47; and a near-field light generation element 43 that is disposed in the vicinity of the main pole and generates near-field light S out of the light flux. The propagation unit has a first propagation unit 53 for propagating the light flux in a direction along the movement direction of a disk (Y direction) and away from the main pole, and a second propagation unit 54 propagating the light flux propagated by the first propagation unit in a direction along the movement direction and toward the main pole and allowing the light flux to enter the near-field light generation element. The first propagation unit, while turning the light flux in a direction different from the incident direction, propagates the light flux in a direction along the movement direction and away from the main pole. |
