According to an embodiment of the present invention, an apparatus for controlling a hybrid vehicle comprises: a driving information collecting part to collect driving information of a vehicle containing an inter-vehicle distance with a vehicle ahead and an inter-vehicle distance change rate; a driving propensity determining part to determine a driving propensity of a driver from the driving information collected from the driving information collecting part; and and a control part to control the vehicle according to the driving propensity of the driver determined by the driving propensity determining part. The present invention has effects of determining a driving propensity of a driver by using an inter-vehicle distance of the driver and an inter-vehicle distance change rate; and minimizing fuel variation of a hybrid vehicle according to a driving propensity of a driver. |
