<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine that highly accurately detects properties of intake air by an intake air sensor provided in an intake passage and inhibits water-induced cracking of the intake air sensor. <P>SOLUTION: The engine includes: an EGR passage that connects an exhaust passage and an intake passage 14 to each other; and an intake air detecting means 30 that has a sensor element 30a provided on the more downstream side than a connection of the intake passage 14 with the EGR passage in order to detect properties of intake air. The intake air detecting means 30 is configured such that the degree of exposure of the sensor element 30a is higher in a period during which a portion of exhaust gas is allowed to flow back to the intake passage 14 via the EGR passage than in a period during which a portion of exhaust gas is not allowed to flow back to the intake passage 14 via the EGR passage. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
