The invention relates to a system for determining the operational state of an electric apparatus (1), said electric apparatus (1) including at least static or dynamic visual signaling members defining the operational state of the electric apparatus, said system comprising: a mobile terminal (2) provided with photographic and/or video capture means for capturing one or more photographs and/or videos of the surface of the electric apparatus, and a communication interface arranged to send data representative of each photograph and/or video of the surface of the electric apparatus over a communication network (4); a central server (3) comprising a communication interface connected to the communication network (4) and arranged to receive said data representative of each photograph and/or video from the mobile terminal (2); and a processing means (20) for generating data representative of the operational state of the electric apparatus (1) from the data representative of each photograph and/or video received and identified in a database (DB).
