Method for slicing products

The method involves moving a common feed unit (13) in a product position search-run along product feed direction (Z) toward products (20a, 20b) for bringing into engagement of product grippers (21) with rear ends (30) of the products. The grippers are extendable independent to each other relative to the feed unit along the feed direction and retractable against the feed direction. A current position of each gripper is determined as a product end position for corresponding gripper when the gripper is in contact with the rear end of the associated product during the product position search-run. An independent claim is also included for a device for slicing products.
