550,127. Wireless signalling; aerials. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Dec. 12, 1941, No. 16084. Convention date, Dec. 12, 1940. [Class 40 (v)] In an electromagnetic horn radiator, for the simultaneous or selective transmission or reception of signals, in which are mounted two linear aerials 11, 12 operating with different frequencies and with such orientations that the polarization of the associated waves are perpendicular to each other in the horn, the transverse dimension of the horn at any section from the mouth of the horn to the aerial, and in a direction perpendicular to each aerial, is not less than half the wavelength at which that aerial operates. The aerials 11, 12 may be spaced along the axis of the hom as shown in Fig. 1 or the horn may branch into Y-form, one aerial being mounted in each arm. The horn may taper uniformly or may be divided by non-tapering portions. Grids of wires 14 may supplement the selective action, the grid passing only waves polarized in a direction at right angles to the wires. Specification 549,753 is referred to. |
