<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically specify a faulty part when conveyance of a belt fails. <P>SOLUTION: A control IC 11 calculates steering control displacement for correcting displacement in a width direction of an intermediate transfer belt 2 on the basis of the current steering control position of a steering roller 5 and an output of a steering sensor 9, to change the steering control position of the steering roller 5 by the calculated steering control displacement. A roller driving mechanism 12 sequentially brings contact members (primary transfer roller 3, secondary transfer roller 7) into contact or away from the intermediate transfer belt 2 at a predetermined timing. The steering sensor 9 monitors a behavior of the intermediate transfer belt 2 after the contact or separation or the steering roller 5, to detect a failure in any of the contact members according to the result. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
