550,201. Thread advancing reels. AMERICAN VISCOSE CORPORATION. Jan 29, 1942, No. 1228. Convention date, Aug. 7, 1941. [Class 120 (ii)] A reel for winding, temporarily storing, and delivering thread and the like 9 during a processing operation comprises a pair of canted rollers 1, 2 and an endless belt-like member 5 passing over the rollers and over which the thread &c. is coiled. As shown the member 5 is foraminous and formed from wire mesh, chain links or fabric and carries transverse spaced bars 6 on the outside. The sides of the belt have inwardly extending portions 7 engaging the ends of the rollers and the belt may be slightly longer than the path around the rollers so that one side is taut and the other curves inwards towards the space between the rollers. The rollers may be tapered so that the thread is either stretched or shrunk in its passage across the belt.
