Device and method for estimating in real time the start angle of combustion of an internal combustion engine

The device has an input to receive an actuating cylinder pressure signal, and an analogical estimation circuit (10) to estimate the start of combustion angle. The circuit delivers a signal representing the instants for the start of combustion, from a signal representing the temporal derivative of the pressure signal. The circuit has a detector to detect the peaks of a high frequency signal resulting from the derivative signal. An independent claim is also included for a method for estimating in real time the start of combustion angle of an engine.
