<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress influence on appearance of a label by reducing types of print formats even if labels with different amounts of print data are issued. <P>SOLUTION: A label roll 2 is made by rolling a mountless label sheet 1 including a thermal coloring surface on its front surface and an adhesive surface on its rear surface. The sheet is drawn out from the label roll 2 and sandwiched between a thermal head 3 and a platen roller 4 driven by a stepping motor to be conveyed and heated for printing. At this time, with respect to print items including names of articles, additives, messages, or raw materials, a printer determines whether the relevant print data satisfy a print range in the sheet conveying direction or not. If the print data do not satisfy, positions of the rest of print items are changed to move over.
