<p>A plasma apparatus for treating nanomaterials, powders and fibres, comprises: a rotatable treatment chamber (10, Fig. 1), a central drum (20) and electrodes 32 projecting into the interior of the drum. In use, the electrodes move with respect to the chamber and continuously agitate the nano/powder/fibre material contained within the drum to prevent agglomeration of the material. The apparatus may be used for exfoliating graphene from graphite particles, and for cleaning, functionalising, doping, and/or decorating carbon nanotubes and other nano-materials. Defects in fullerenes or graphene may also be repaired by exposure to a carbon containing plasma gas.</p> |
