Clean down proof interlock

A lock which may be an axial tubular lock comprises a housing 500 containing one or more magnetic tumbler pins 550 and a lock actuating component 510 wherein insertion of a key 200 having magnets 250 displaces tumbler pins 550 axially of the housing to release the actuating component. The actuating component may be a disc with apertures into which tumbler pins 550 locate preventing rotation of the disc in the locked position. The disc may be coupled to a shaft 460 which may release an interlock bolt (20, fig.1). The shaft may have a head 470 with protrusions 490 which fit into a recess 260 in of key 200. Housing 500 may include a collar 430 having an aperture with indents corresponding to the external shape of the key to provide a captive arrangement retaining the key in the unlocked position and allowing removal of the key in the locked position. The magnets and locking disc are preferably located internally of the housing inaccessible externally allowing easy cleaning for use in hygienic environments.
