MEMORY CELL AND MEMORY MODULE HAVING THE SAME

Disclosed are a memory cell and a memory module including the same which increase memory expandability and speed by changing the communication method of SDRAM memory cell using optical components. The memory cell comprises: a buffer which temporarily stores data on the front part of a memory; a protocol engine unit which sends data received in packets through the buffer to the memory and packetizes the data received through the buffer from the memory to output; and an interface unit which receives data in packets in series through optical communication from the host, transfers the same to the protocol engine unit in order to transmit the data to the memory, and sends the packetized data in series from the protocol engine unit through optical communication to the host.
