A system which enables a mobile hardware device to print a document at a hardware printing device comprises receiving a document which identifies a target font reference for each character of the text. When the target font reference is unlisted (i.e. not found) in a font strategy table (FST), and the document includes an embedded target font, embedding the target font data in the document with this embedded target font data employed to update the font strategy table with a new entry. When the target font reference is unlisted in the FST and the target font data is available from a third party, downloading the target font data and employing it to update the FST. When the target font reference is listed in the FST, employing a corresponding entry in the FST to identify emulation information including a substitute font which can be printed with a metric (e.g. serif, stroke weight, cursive) used to improve accuracy of emulation information. |
