The access control system comprises: a reader which recognizes an adjacent recognition medium and generates a Wiegand signal corresponding to a specific value of the recognition medium; a recognition sensor in which the position of a contact point is moved according to opening and closing of a door and which generates electrical signals different from each other according to the opening and closing states; an opening switch which generates an electrical signal to unlock a locked state of the door by an input of a user; and a main controller that receives signals from the reader, the recognition sensor, and the opening switch, and controls the opening and closing states of the door, wherein the recognition sensor and the opening switch transmit the generated electrical signals to the reader, and the reader converts the electrical signals input from the recognition sensor and the opening switch into Wiegand signals, respectively, and transmits the Wiegand signals to the main controller. According to the invention, wiring for transmission of signals to the main controller is simplified, and construction according to construction of the access control system is simplified, thereby improving economic efficiency and construction efficiency.
