METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PREPPING SURFACES WITH A HIGH-FREQUENCY FORCED PULSED WATERJET USING A ROTATBLE NOZZLE

A rotatable nozzle is designed to prep a surface to a predetermined surface roughness using a forced pulsed waterjet. The nozzle has a nozzle body having a high-pressure water inlet and a microtip connected to an ultrasonic transducer that oscillates the microtip. The nozzle body may optionally have two forwardly angled exit orifices that are angled relative to an axis of displacement of the microtip. This nozzle may be used for surface prepping of internal cylindrical surfaces or bores.
