The invention also proposes a method for constructing the stator.

A stator for an electrical machine having an axis (A), comprising: a) a plurality of axially extending slots; b) within every slot of a subset of the slots, at least four sections of conductor, arranged so that i) a first section of conductor and a second section of conductor are both located at a first radial distance from the axis (A);ii) a third section of conductor and a fourth section of conductor are both located at a second radial distance from the axis (A); c) a plurality of connecting sections which i) connect all first sections of conductor in electrical series with each other to form a first continuous winding;ii) connect all second sections of conductor in electrical series with each other to form a second continuous winding;iii) connect all third sections of conductor in electrical series with each other to form a third continuous winding which is electrical series with the first sections of conductor; andiv) connect all fourth sections of conductor in electrical series with each other to form a fourth continuous winding which is in electrical series with the second sections of conductor; in which a pair of electrical conductors begin at a first slot and terminates at an Nth slot, and which forms a first layer in said slots, and in which: d) said pair of electrical conductors reverses direction at the Nth slot, and runs through the same slots in reverse sequence to form a second layer, such that all members of said pair of electrical conductors, within the slots in the second layer are located at the same radial distance D2 from the axis.
