receiving a bandwidth map (BWmap) from an optical line terminal (OLT), wherein the BWmap comprises a plurality of allocations for a plurality of burst signals; and transmitting at least one of the burst signals to the OLT in response to the BWmap, wherein each allocation comprises a start time for the allocation, a grant size for the allocation, and a header error correction (HEC) for the allocation, and wherein the start time and the grant size are both measured in four bytes. |
