The present invention relates to a flame retardant coating solution for a foamed polystyrene particle using a thermoplastic resin, which is used to mold styrofoam mainly used as a building material, and to a manufacturing method thereof. The manufacturing method comprises the steps of: gaining a first reaction material by respectively inputting and stirring water, bicarbonate, and a pigment; gaining a second reaction material by inputting and stirring a boric acid powder with respect to the first reaction material; gaining a third reaction material by inputting and stirring a powder of magnesium hydroxide with respect to the second reaction material; and gaining a fourth reaction material by inputting and stirring the water-soluble thermoplastic resin as a binder with respect to the third reaction material. The present invention enables to provide flame retardancy close to non-combustion by a hive structure shape when combusting the foamed polystyrene particle.
