An aqueous binder composition, comprising: a) at least one emulsion copolymer, b) at least one water-soluble alkyd resin having a weight-average molecular weight between 5000 and 40 000 Da, and c) at least one alkyd resin having a weight-average molecular weight of more than 100 000 Da in the form of an aqueous emulsion, wherein each emulsion copolymer (a) comprises (i) 3 to 15% by weight of monomers of the formula I or II or mixtures thereof, in which R1 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, R2 is a hydrogen atom or an aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms and n is an integer from 3 to 15, (ii) 40 to 97% by weight of a C1-C8 alkyl (meth)acrylate, a vinylaromatic compound having up to 20 carbon atoms, or mixtures thereof, and(iii) 0 to 50% by weight of other monomers, and the solids content of the mixture of (a), (b), and (c) is less than 60% by weight. | ||
