<p>An apparatus for extending depth information, in accordance with the present invention, comprises: a depth discontinuous area extraction unit for extracting a depth discontinuous area from a low-resolution depth image and a high-resolution color image; a flattening weighted value calculation unit for calculating a flattening weighted value by referring to the depth discontinuous area extracted by the depth discontinuous area extraction unit; and an optimization unit for providing a depth value by using an energy value calculated by being applied with the weighted value calculated by the flattening weighted value calculation unit. According to the present invention, errors can be reduced when producing a high-resolution depth image by extending a low-resolution depth image. This may result from eliminating the influence of a color image, solving a blurred boundary issue, excluding the influence of noises, and the like, in accordance with the present invention.</p> |
