主权项 1. A method for a primary total knee arthroplasty procedure for a knee joint of a human patient including a tibia and a femur, the tibia having a tibial plateau on a proximal end of the tibia including a tibial spine on a central third of the tibial plateau located between a medial third of the tibial plateau and a lateral third of the tibial plateau, the proximal end of the tibia having an anterior tibial cortex generally underlying an anterior perimeter of the tibial plateau, the method comprising the steps of: positioning a total knee arthroplasty tibial alignment guide on the tibia such that the tibial alignment guide simultaneously contacts two points on articular surfaces of a non-resected medial third of the tibial plateau, two points on articular surfaces of a non-resected lateral third of the tibial plateau and one point on the anterior tibial cortex, the tibial alignment guide including at least two apertures extending therethrough; creating a plurality of markings on the tibia, each marking created by passing a fixation element through one of the apertures of the tibial alignment guide before creating a planar resected surface on the tibia; positioning a total knee arthroplasty tibial cutting guide relative to the proximal end of the tibia following removal of the tibial alignment guide, the location and orientation of the tibial cutting guide in all of varus-valgus orientation, flexion-extension orientation, and resection depth being determined by referencing the plurality of markings on the tibia, the tibial cutting guide having: a bone facing surface configured to posteriorly face the anterior tibial cortex;an opposing surface configured to anteriorly face away from the anterior tibial cortex; andonly a single slot configured to guide an oscillating sawblade defined in the tibial cutting guide, the single slot having only a single cutting guide surface configured to be coplanar with a planar tibial resected surface to be created on the proximal end of the tibia, the single slot being bounded by a first edge defined by an intersection of the single slot with the bone facing surface and a second edge defined by an intersection of the single slot with the opposing surface, the second edge having a lateral-most point; connecting the tibial cutting guide with respect to the anterior tibial cortex such that the single cutting guide surface is coplanar with the planar tibial resected surface to be created and the lateral-most point of the second edge is positioned medially of the lateral third of the tibial plateau; using the single cutting guide surface of the tibial cutting guide to guide the oscillating sawblade across the tibia laterally of the lateral-most point to create a portion of the planar tibial resected surface, the planar tibial resected surface extending across the medial third, central third and lateral third of the tibial plateau and being created without any other guide surface of a tibial cutting guide being coplanar with the planar tibial resected surface and directly anterior of the lateral third of the tibial plateau; implanting a total knee arthroplasty tibial implant with a fixation surface configured to face the planar tibial resected surface; using a total knee arthroplasty femoral alignment guide by: positioning the femoral alignment guide on a distal end of the femur of the knee joint wherein the femoral alignment guide is configured to simultaneously contact two points on articular surfaces of a non-resected medial femoral condyle, two points on articular surfaces of a non-resected lateral femoral condyle and one point on a non-resected anterior cortex of the femur, the femoral alignment guide including at least two apertures extending therethrough; andcreating a plurality of markings on the femur, each marking created by passing a fixation element through one of the apertures of the femoral alignment guide before creating a planar resected surface on the femur; positioning and fixing a total knee arthroplasty femoral cutting guide relative to the distal end of the femur following removal of the femoral alignment guide; working a sawblade to create a planar femoral resected surface on the distal end of the femur using the femoral cutting guide; and implanting a femoral total knee arthroplasty implant with a fixation surface configured to face the planar femoral resected surface, a location and orientation of the femoral implant in all of varus-valgus orientation, internal-external rotational orientation, flexion-extension orientation, distal resection location, anterior resection location and posterior resection location being determined by referencing the plurality of markings on the femur, wherein the step of using the femoral alignment guide is performed without an intramedullary rod or a tibial referencing tensor linkage.
