BIRDCAGE RF COIL FOR SMALL ANIMAL NMR IMAGING AT MRI SYSTEM

The present invention relates to a birdcage-type receiving end RF coil for a small animal MRI system. The receiving RF coil comprises: a housing which is made of a hollow cylindrical transparent plastic material; a coil sheet which includes a rectangular flexible printed circuit board (FPCB) surrounded on a side face of the housing and attached cylindrically, horizontal end rings formed at an upper end and a lower end of the flexible printed circuit board, and four coil bridges having a sawtooth-type structure configured by vertical oblique portions extending in an oblique vertical direction from the end rings of the upper end and the lower end and a horizontal end portion horizontally connected at the end of each oblique vertical portion, wherein a gap is formed between the horizontal end portion center and any portion of the end ring between the coil bridges to be patterned on the printed circuit board in a strip form; a capacitor which is provided in the gap; and a detuning circuit which is installed in at least one gap of the end rings and detunes by changing impedance. Uniform and strong internal magnetic field are formed with a simple structure and configuration, high-quality resonance frequency is generated, reception sensitivity is raised, and signal detection performance deep into a sample is raised.
