The present invention discloses a method for providing dental data which includes: step (a) to set measurement standards for dental data encompassing the palatal plane across the anterior nasal spine and posterior nasal spine of the hard palate in an image of the dental hard tissue of a patient recorded by a medical imaging system; and step (b) to measure the condition of either the jawbone or tooth based on the measurement standards for dental data to find a measurement of either the jawbone or tooth, and a system thereof. The present invention uses the palatal plane, which is easily identified and reproduced using an image of the cranial bone as a reference plane to improve the accuracy of data measuring the condition of the dental hard tissue and tooth and eliminate differences in the diagnosis resulting from a gap in the level of competence and experience in reading an image. Therefore, the present invention provides data of the present condition of a patient based on the measurement, which allows an operator and a patient to easily collect the diagnostic data.
