The present invention is to provide an electrolyte for a lithium secondary battery, and a lithium secondary battery containing the same. The electrolyte for a lithium secondary battery of the present invention has excellent high temperature stability, low temperature discharge capacity, and lifespan properties. Also, the lithium secondary battery comprises: lithium salt; a non-aqueous organic solvent; and an oxalate derivative.
