The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for processing data using MapReduce parallel genetic algorithm (MRPGA). The apparatus may include: a plurality of map modules that are individually assigned with a plurality of subpopulations, obtained by dividing population data, obtains output subpopulation including offspring data by executing genetic algorithm operation based on a fitness value for a predetermined issue of the assigned input subpopulation, and are composed to repeatedly execute the genetic algorithm operation in multiple times by using the output subpopulation as the input subpopulation; a reduce module that receives the output subpopulations from each map module, after finishing repeated execution of genetic algorithm operation, and then generates output data based on the fitness value from the received output subpopulation; and an output module composed to output the output data.
