FIELD: chemistry.SUBSTANCE: method of preparing a catalyst for cracking vacuum gas oil with controlled output of Cand Colefins includes mixing an ultrastable zeolite Y in cation-decationated form and zeolite HZSM-5 with matrix components in the form of amorphous aluminosilicate, aluminium hydroxide and bentonite clay, spray drying the obtained composition, followed by calcination and obtaining a catalyst. Before mixing with catalyst components, aluminium hydroxide is treated with orthophosphoric acid to achieve phosphorus content with respect to aluminium oxide of 1 to 10 wt %.
