A straw-disintegrator 5 is mounted at the rear end of a combine-harvester 1 beneath the strawoutlet 4<SP>1</SP> and is carried upon vertical hinges 14, 15 mounted at the side of the harvester so that the unit may be swung aside to permit access to the straw-walkers 3 in the interior of the machine. The unit comprises a hopper-like body containing rollers 8 provided with knives, the body having an outlet 5 and having a bracing frame 9 surrounding it and carrying stays 22, 23 on which the pivot-pins 14, 15 are mounted. The pins are received in holes in brackets 16 so that the unit can be lifted off after being swung out. Co-operating locking members are provided on the opposite lateral sides of the unit and the harvester. A belt 11 carries the drive from the harvester to driving pulleys coaxial with the rollers 8, the drive being automatically interrupted by the swinging aside of the disintegrator.
