A rack system and bracket

Disclosed is a rack support system for retail or storage purposes to provide a secure connection between a bracket and a upright support. The support system comprises a support panel having a front face and a rear face and at least one aperture extending through the support panel between the front face and the rear face. The rear face includes a recess adjacent to the aperture with the recess having a base surface which in side view is located between the front face and the rear face. The base surface of the recess is bounded by at least one sidewall extending inward from the rear face, and the base surface of the recess intersects with a wall that extends forward toward the front face and that defines the aperture. The support panel is configured to be secured to a plate member. A support member has a body and at least one support hook which has a first portion to engage an edge of the at least one aperture with the body extending away from the first portion. The support hook has a second portion which extends from the first portion so as to form a gap or slot between the body and the second portion to receive a part of the support panel adjacent the at least one aperture. The second portion in use is adapted to be generally parallel to a rear surface of the support panel, wherein the second portion of the support hook can pass through the aperture and when the first portion has been positioned against a wall of the aperture the second portion is located adjacent a rear surface of the support panel and adjacent the plate member. The aperture of the support panel defines an opening that is surrounded by at least the wall. The first portion and second portion of the hook are configured such that both the first and second portions of the hook pass through the opening of the aperture in use and the second portion of the hook engages the rear surface of the support panel adjacent the aperture in use.
