PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for quantitatively determining a degradation state of an electric wire made of a material containing iron as a main component and having a galvanized surface in order to prevent disconnection of the electric wire. ! SOLUTION: A deterioration determining method for an electric wire made of material containing iron as a main component and having a galvanized surface includes: a first step for determining content of zinc element or an iron element on a surface of an electric wire; and a second step for determining deteriorating degree of the electric wire based on criterion data which shows relationship between the content of the zinc element or the iron element and tensile strength on the surface of a sample made of a material containing iron as a main component and having a galvanized surface, and the content of the zinc element or the iron element determined in the first step. !
