PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which minimizes degradation of display performance and reduction in contrast due to external light.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device 11 is positioned such that a line normal to a display surface thereof is tilted by a tilt angle relative to a light path of external light, and includes a substrate 20 located to face a light source unit, a substrate 21 located to face the substrate 20, a liquid crystal layer 22 sandwiched between the substrates 20, 21, a triangular prism 40 located on the substrate 20, and a triangular prism 41 located on the substrate 21. The prism 40 deflects light from the light source unit such that the light passing through the liquid crystal layer 22 is substantially normal to the display surface. The prism 41 deflects the light coming out through the liquid crystal layer 22 such that the light coming out through the liquid crystal layer 22 is tilted by a tilt angle relative to the display surface. |
