PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen purifying/boosting system and a method for operating the same which can safely and efficiently operate a hydrogen station.SOLUTION: There is provided a hydrogen purifying/boosting system which includes: a fuel supply pipe for supplying a fuel; a reformer for reforming the fuel to produce reformed gas containing hydrogen and carbon monoxide; a gas detector for measuring carbon monoxide concentration and hydrogen concentration in hydrogen-containing gas which is formed of the reformed gas or obtained from the reformed gas; a hydrogen purifying/boosting device for purifying and boosting hydrogen in the hydrogen-containing gas by application of a voltage between an anode and a cathode arranged with an electrolyte membrane sandwiched therebetween to produce purified hydrogen gas; a pressurized gas supply pipe for supplying pressurized gas into an outer shell of the hydrogen purifying/boosting device; a purge nitrogen gas supply pipe for exhausting remaining gas in the hydrogen purifying/boosting device; a drain port for discharging moisture contained in the purified hydrogen gas; and a hydrogen tank for storing the purified hydrogen gas.
