DISPLAY DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD OF THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device preventing collapse of an aspect ratio of an OSD image when superimposing the OSD image on a 3D image of a side-by-side system and a top and bottom system and projecting the OSD image superimposed thereon.SOLUTION: A display device (projector 1) comprises: a discrimination section (image analysis section 41) discriminating a kind of a 3D format of an image signal input; an OSD data storage section (OSD memory 42a) storing OSD data therein; an OSD data division section (OSD processing section 42) dividing the OSD data stored in the OSD data storage section into columns or rows; a determination section (control section 20) determining whether the OSD data division section divides the OSD data into the columns or the rows on the basis of discrimination results of the discrimination section; and a superimposition section (OSD processing section 42) causing the OSD data division section to divide the OSD data by using division determined by the determination section and superimposing the OSD data divided on an image of the 3D format.
