PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element which inhibits lateral light leakage from a top edge of a lateral face of a semiconductor laminate by controlling light distribution.SOLUTION: A light emitting element 100 according to the present embodiment comprises: a semiconductor laminate 10 having a top face serving as a light emission surface; a first electrode 40 and a second electrode 50 which are provided on an undersurface of the semiconductor laminate 10; a reflection member 20 which covers a lateral face of the semiconductor laminate 10; and a light-shielding member 30 provided on a top edge of the reflection member 20. In particular, a top edge of the light-shielding member 30 is located at a position above the semiconductor laminate 10. Reflectivity of the semiconductor laminate 10 in an emission wavelength of the semiconductor laminate 10 is lower than reflectivity of the reflection member 20. |
