PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to maintain the gray level and quality of an image by short-time density control.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: forming means which forms an image on an image carrier; holding means which holds a reference table which converts each of a plurality of input image data values to output image data values, and a grayscale correction table; and correction means which causes the forming means to form a first test pattern including a plurality of images having different densities on an image carrier by use of the grayscale correction table, and detects densities of the images to correct the grayscale correction table. The correction means interpolates the grayscale correction table updated with the reference table after updating the grayscale correction table with the detected densities of the images, to correct the grayscale correction table. |
