The present invention relates to a variable volume multi-neck active-resonator and an operating method thereof. The resonator includes an intake manifold including a plurality of necks protruding inside; a resonator block forming the same axle as the intake manifold and included in an outer side of the intake manifold; and a volume control block included in the resonator block to selectively connected the inside of the resonator block with one among the necks by rotating around a longitudinal central shaft of the intake manifold. As the inner volume of the resonator block connected to one of the necks is changed, not only the extent of the resonator but also the extent and length of the neck are actively controlled. Therefore, as compared to the past, as a relatively small resonator is installed in an engine room of a small space, a sufficient inner space in the engine room is secured considering the stability and efficiency of maintenance and the smooth flow of air.
