PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to stabilize the amount of developer more reliably. ! SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a developing apparatus 1 for developing an electrostatic latent image carried on a photoreceptor drum 28 with developer including toner and carrier; an opening 6 for discharging surplus developer in the developing apparatus 1; changing means (a movable shutter 6a and an agitation screw 4a) configured to change characteristics of discharge from the opening 6 when driven; a developer temperature/humidity sensor 52 which detects humidity of the developer in the developing apparatus 1; a temperature/humidity sensor 51 for detecting ambient humidity of the device body; and a control section 300 which controls operation of the changing means, on the basis of results detected by the developer temperature/humidity sensor 52 and the temperature/humidity sensor 51. !
