PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing barium nitride particles causing no spontaneous combustion. ! SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing barium nitride particles causing no spontaneous combustion characterized in that barium nitride with a particle diameter of 10 mm or higher is pulverized in an inert gas atmosphere with a dew point of -100°C to -50°C and an oxygen concentration of 0.1 to 1,000 ppm so as to particles in which the maximum particle diameter is below 10 mm and the average particle diameter is 15 μm or higher, and having a particle diameter distribution where, by the cumulative value of a volume standard, the one lower than 10 μm is below 40%, the one lower than 20 μm is 70% or lower and the one lower than 30 μm is 90% or lower. !
