PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique conducive to improvement of accuracy of detection of a mark provided on a web. ! SOLUTION: A mark detection method comprises: a first step of acquiring a signal output from a detector while detecting a state of a web by using the detector outputting a signal of a first level when a detection value is equal to a first threshold value or more and, on the other hand, outputting a signal of a second level different from the first level when the detection value is less than the first threshold value; a second step of acquiring transportation information indicating a transportation state of the web; and a third step of determining whether or not the signal of the second level output by the detector is counted on the basis of the transportation information. !
