784,783. Plate rectifiers. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES. Feb. 10, 1954 [Feb. 10, 1953], No. 3964/54. Drawings to Specification. Class 37. A selenium rectifier is produced by building up the selenium in a plurality of layers, each layer including as a first additive, a halogen to increase the conductivity of the selenium, the layer adjacent the barrier layer (and if more than two layers are involved, the next adjacent layers excepting one or more of the last layers) including a second additive which promotes the barrier formation and also acts to reduce the conductivity and the remaining layer(s) including a further additive which also acts to increase conductivity, the quantities of the addtives being selected so that the final conductivity of the layers decreases, and the quantity of the second additive increases, in the direction approaching the barrier layer. The second additive may consist of T1, Ga, In or S, and the further additive of tellurium. The first and second or first and further additives may consist of a metal-halogen compound, ironchloride being given as an example of the " first " and " further " combination. |
