PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a cellulose nanofiber aqueous dispersion and an auxiliary therefor. ! SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing a cellulose nanofiber aqueous dispersion including: a micronizing step where cellulose is micronized in the presence of a polyoxyalkylene compound (A) having an HLB of 8 to 18 to obtain a cellulose nanofiber aqueous dispersion; or a concentrating step where a low-concentration cellulose nanofiber aqueous dispersion is concentrated in the presence of a polyoxyalkylene compound (A) having an HLB of 8 to 18 to obtain a high-concentration cellulose nanofiber aqueous dispersion. There is used an auxiliary for enabling higher concentration of a cellulose nanofiber aqueous dispersion containing, as an essential component, a polyoxyalkylene compound (A) having an HLB of 8 to 18. !
