A process for producing thermoplastic elastomers, particularly thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers, is described. The thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer is produced using a pyridine derivative, such as 4-morpholinopyridine.

reacting together at least one organic diisocyanate with at least polyhydroxyl compound having a molecular weight of greater than about 400 and with at least one chain extender, the reaction occurring in the presence of a catalyst, the catalyst comprising a pyridine derivative, the pyridine derivative comprising 4-morpholinopyridine.
