PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an LED element and a method for manufacturing the same, which can improve light extraction efficiency to a further degree.SOLUTION: An LED element comprises: a semiconductor laminated part including a light-emitting layer; a diffraction plane on which light emitted from the light-emitting layer is made incident and projected parts are formed at a pitch larger than an optical wavelength of the light and smaller than a coherent length of the light, and which reflects incident light in a plurality of modes in accordance with the Bragg diffraction condition and transmits the incident light in a plurality of modes in accordance with the Bragg diffraction condition; and a reflection plane which reflects light diffracted by the diffraction plane and causes the reflected light to be made incident on the diffraction plane again. The semiconductor laminated part is formed around the projected parts without any gap on the diffraction plane to have a ratio of a flat part of 40% or more in planar view. |
