The regulation improvement method uses monitoring of the reaction of each of the automobile wheels after switching in the traction regulation, e.g. by evaluation of the filtered wheel accelerations, for detection of a regulation fault, with switching to a special regulation mode. The wheel reactions can be detected at a given time point after switching in the traction regulation and/or after a defined reduction in the engine torque.
