PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent loosening of a screw fastening portion connecting a piston rod and a damping force variable mechanism. ! SOLUTION: A shock absorber 100 includes a cylinder 1, a piston 2, a piston rod 3, a housing 12, a free piston 13, a flow channel 18, and damping valves 6, 9. The piston rod 3 has a male screw 3b formed on an end portion at a piston 2 side, a cylindrical portion 3c disposed on the end portion at the piston 2 side and defining an annular clearance 20 with the male screw 3b, and a through hole 3e formed on an inner peripheral face and an outer peripheral face of the cylindrical portion 3c. The housing 12 has a main body portion 16b provided with a female screw 16a on an inner peripheral face. The piston rod 3 and the housing 12 are connected by fastening the male screw 3b and the female screw 16a, and caulking processing for restricting relative rotation of the piston rod 3 and the housing 12 is applied to a part opposed to the through hole 3e, of the main body portion 16b. |
